PROJECT DESCRIPTION • FOLLOW THE MOUSE (2001) |
||
"Follow the mouse" is a common behavior that computer
programmers use to make an object trail the mouse pointer around
the monitor. It is also, more colloquially, what we all do daily
in front of our screens as we work, play, and communicate. In replacing
a hardware mouse with its namesake, a living creature, I hope to
humorously raise some questions about the names and metaphors we
invoke to describe the constructed environments that we inhabit. Follow the Mouse was exhibited in July 2001 in the "ART/TECH" component of "Absolute Vision Chicago 6, Art: the Next Generation" at the Jean Albano Art Gallery (215 W. Superior Chicago, IL 60610, phone: 312-440-0770)
